  Thomas Son of Jonathan & Betty Brook in the township of Thurstonland and Parish of Kirkburton. was born Nov 8th 1835, Bap'd Feb 28th 1836. Today there is a small group of houses "Whitestones", on Stocks Moor Road, which is probably where he was born.

Thomas' father was Jonathan Brook and his mother was Betty Moorhouse. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Joseph, Isaac, Jonadab, William, Harriet and Ruth. He was the youngest of the seven children.
