Robert was born on April 14th, 1776 in Harwood and his baptism took place on May 18th, 1776 at Cockey Moor Discenting Chapel.1  Robert's father was Arthur Bromiley and his mother was Mary Croshaw. He had seven brothers and a sister, named Arthur, Thomas, James, Samuel, John, Roger, Daniel and Ruth.  He was the second oldest of the nine children.
