John was born on April 7th, 1786 in Harwood and his baptism took place on May 22nd, 1786 at Bank Street Unitarian.1  John's father was Arthur Bromiley and his mother was Mary Croshaw. He had seven brothers and a sister, named Arthur, Robert, Thomas, James, Samuel, Roger, Daniel and Ruth.  He was the third youngest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 56 in October 1842 in Harwood.  He was buried on October 20th, 1842 in Bolton.2
