William was born in February 1586.  William's father was Lord William Brereton and his mother was Margaret Savage.  His paternal grandparents were Sir William Brereton MP and Jane Warburton. He had two brothers and a sister, named Robert, John and Mary.  He was the third oldest of the four children. He had a half-brother named William.  He died as an infant in February 1586 in Cheshire.  His burial was in February 1586 at St. Oswalds (Malpas).1 1
