Ann was born in May 1758 in Wybunbury and her baptism took place there on May 19th, 1758.1  Ann's father was Hugh Brereton Jnr and her mother was Mary Criton.  Her paternal grandparents were Hugh Brereton and Mary Withers. She had two brothers and two sisters, named James, George, Hannah and Mary.  She was the second oldest of the five children.
