Sarah's father was Richard Booth and her mother was Ann Cunliffe. She had three brothers and five sisters, named Yates, Peter, George, Ann, Elizabeth, Alice, Mary and Ellen. She had an adopted brother named Richard. She had three half-brothers named William, Daniel and Robert.

‌Sarah and Eli were married in a religious ceremony on April 17th, 1881 at St. Peter's (Bolton) witnessed by George Syddall & Mary Beswick.²
