Ellen's father was Richard Booth and her mother was Ann Cunliffe. She had three brothers and five sisters, named Yates, Peter, George, Ann, Elizabeth, Alice, Mary and Sarah. She had an adopted brother named Richard. She had three half-brothers named William, Daniel and Robert.  She died in 1846 in Turton.¹
