Amelia's father was John Booth and her mother was Margaret Emmett. Her paternal grandparents were Peter Booth and Mary Bond. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Robert, Jonathan, James, Robert, Henry, Mary and Margaret. She was the second youngest of the eight children.
