Joseph's father was Joseph Conrad Beckstrand and his mother was Emmaline Bennett. His maternal grandparents were Cap John Bennett and Jane Roberts. He had three brothers and three sisters, named John, Linford, Orrin, Alta, Anna and Edith. He was the second oldest of the seven children. He died at the age of 84 on March 17th, 1981 in Provo.¹
