Robert's father was George Batho and his mother was Sarah Holderhead.  His paternal grandparents were George Batho and Rosanna (Rosina). He had three brothers and four sisters, named Charles, John, James, Mary, Betsy, Rose and Jane.  He was the third youngest of the eight children.  He died at 1 months old on January 3rd, 1844 in Whitchurch.¹
