Mary's father was George Batho and her mother was Sarah Holderhead.  Her paternal grandparents were George Batho and Rosanna (Rosina). She had four brothers and three sisters, named Charles, John, James, Robert, Betsy, Rose and Jane.  She was the oldest of the eight children.
