David was born on March 14th, 1654 in Birkrigg Park.1  David's father was Robert Atkinson and his mother was Agnes Storey.  His paternal grandparents were Richard Atkinson and Agnes; his maternal grandparents were Robert Storey and Isabel Mitchell. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Amos, Samuel, Emmanuel, Agnes, Hannah and Rachel.  He was the second oldest of the seven children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Joseph and Margaret.  He died at the age of 83 on October 21st, 1737 in Birkrigg Park.  He was buried on October 23rd, 1737 in Preston-Patrick.2

‌David and Sarah were married in a religious ceremony on May 30th, 1686 in Preston-Patrick.3  They had a son and eight daughters, named Robert, Rachel, Sarah, Isabel, Dorothy, Hannah, Margaret, Agnes and Elizabeth.  There are no more children.
