Sarah was born in December 1838 in Heywood and her baptism took place on October 14th, 1838 at St. Luke (Heywood).1  Sarah's father was George Astin and her mother was Hannah Booth. She had three brothers and a sister, named Thomas, John, James and Maria.  She was the oldest of the five children.
