George was the son of William Austin, an engineer.
In 1837, George married Hannah Booth (born Heywood) at Rochdale, and after their marriage they lived at Heywood for 7 years before movng to Tyldesley.
In 1851 the George and Hannah "Austin" (37 & 34) were at Tyldesley with Sarah Boomlow (30, wid, lodger), Joseph Austin (26, brother), Thomas (10), John (9), Jamews (8), Maria (3).
Hannah died at Tyldesley in 1853. Her death was registered locally at Leigh.
In 1854, the follow year of his wifes death, George married Mary Taylor, the daugher of John Walmsley.
George and Hannah were married in a religious ceremony on December 24th, 1837 at St. Chad (Rochdale).2 They had three sons and two daughters, named Thomas, John, James, Sarah and Maria. There are no more children.
