Maria was born in March 1872 in Bolton.1  Maria's father was John Aspinall and her mother was Mary Welsby.  Her maternal grandparents were Walter Welsby and Maria Bolton. She had three sisters named Elizabeth, Edith and Ellen.  She was the second oldest of the four known children.  She died as an infant at 9 months old in December 1872 in Bolton.1
