Elizabeth's father was John Aspinall and her mother was Mary Welsby.  Her maternal grandparents were Walter Welsby and Maria Bolton. She had three sisters named Maria, Edith and Ellen.  She was the oldest of the four known children.  She died at the age of 2 in March 1872 in Bolton.²
