Anne was born in December 1840 in Little Bolton and her baptism took place on May 1st, 1842 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1 2  Anne's father was William Aspinall and her mother was Selina Mather.  Her maternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Hannah Mather. She had a brother named James.  She was the younger of the two children.
