George was born on December 16th, 1903 in Wigan.1  George's father was William  Ainsworth and his mother was Mary Orrell.  His maternal grandparents were Richard Orrell and Sarah Gorse. He had three brothers and a sister, named Jonathan, Peter, John and Sarah.  He was the second youngest of the five known children.  He died at the age of 83 in 1986.
