René III was born on April 3rd, 1657 in Chàteau-Richer, Montmorency, Qc, Canada.  René III's father was René II DeLavoye and his mother was Anne Gaudin.  His paternal grandparents were René I DeLavoye and Isabeau Bellenger; his maternal grandparents were Élie Gaudin and Esther Ramage. He had four brothers and a sister, named Jean, Pierre, Jacques, Joseph and Anne.  He was the oldest of the six children.  He died at the age of 64 on December 8th, 1721 in Petite-Rivière-St-Francois, Qc, Canada.
