Victor was born on July 10th, 1903.  Victor's father was Samuel Jacobus Martens and his mother was Angenita Adendorff.  His paternal grandparents were Cornelius (Basheesa) Jacobus Martens and Victoria Liversage. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Cornelius, Johan , Auwinus, Samuelina, Maria, Victoria and Louise.  He is the youngest of the eight children.
