Kate was born on January 24th, 1854 in Jefferson, Ashtabula County, Ohio.1 Kate's father was Joseph Addison Giddings and her mother was Mary A. Curtiss. Her paternal grandparents were Joshua Reed Giddings and Laura Waters. She had a brother and two sisters, named Albert, Elizabeth and Clara. She was the oldest of the four children.-
