Yishai was born on May 24th, 1986 in Israel. Yishai's father is Rabbi Yaacov Baruch CHEKOTAI and his mother is Rivkah YOSEF-OVADIA. His paternal grandparents are Shimon and Leah; his maternal grandparents were Rabbi Ovadia Abdalla YOSEF and Margalit FATTAL. He has four brothers and a sister, named Lior, Adi, Ron, Shakhar and Marganit. He is the third oldest of the six children.
