Aaltje was born on July 11th, 1886 in Wapse.1  Aaltje's father was Harm Veenstra and her mother was Albertje Monsuur.  Her paternal grandparents were Jan Harms Veenstra and Grietje Bartelds Oost; her maternal grandparents were Jan Jans Monsuur and Albertje Alberts Nijenhuis. She had six brothers named Jan, Jan, Barteld, Albert, Ep and Geert.  She was the fourth oldest of the seven children.  She died at the age of 57 on March 12th, 1944 in Ruinerwold.2
