Jan was born on February 2nd, 1806 in Hengelo.1  Jan's father was Jan Bosman and his mother was Hendrica (Hendrika) de Gier.  His paternal grandparents were Jan Bosman and Vrouw / Moeder; his maternal grandparents were Garrit de Gier and Berentjen Antink. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Gerrit, Jan, Bernardus Hendrikus, Berentjen, Hendrina and Willemken.  He was the oldest of the seven children.  He died before 1816.
