Gerrit was born on August 12th, 1811 in Hengelo.1  Gerrit's father was Jan Bosman and his mother was Hendrica (Hendrika) de Gier.  His paternal grandparents were Jan Bosman and Vrouw / Moeder; his maternal grandparents were Garrit de Gier and Berentjen Antink. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Jan, Jan, Bernardus Hendrikus, Berentjen, Hendrina and Willemken.  He was the fourth oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 36 on May 11th, 1848 in Hengelo.2
