Hendrik was born on October 17th, 1773.  Hendrik's father was Jan Preusterink and his mother was Derkske  Fredriks.  His paternal grandparents were Hendrik Preusterink and Hendrikka Heitink. He had a brother and two sisters, named Gerrit, Hendrika and Berentjen.  He was the second youngest of the four children.
