Lammert was born on December 2nd, 1817 in Varsseveld‎.1  Lammert's father was Hendrik Jansen and his mother was Dersken (Derse) Bussink.  His paternal grandparents were Hendrik Jan Jansen and Enneken Jolink; his maternal grandparents were Lammert Bussink and Garritijen Heusinkveld. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Gerrit, Derk Willem, Jan, Everdina, Grada, Hendrika, Aleida and Dora.  He was the oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 36 on July 16th, 1854 in Westendorp (Oude IJsselstreek).1
