Willem was born on October 27th, 1737 in Watergang.1   Willem's father was Crelis Pietersen van Neck and his mother was Trijntje Teunis.  His paternal grandparents were Pieter van Neck and <Unknown>. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Pieter, Teunis, Simon, Bitie and Aagje.  He was the third oldest of the six children.
