Simon was born on October 16th, 1746 in Watergang.1   Simon's father was Crelis Pietersen van Neck and his mother was Trijntje Teunis.  His paternal grandparents were Pieter van Neck and <Unknown>. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Pieter, Teunis, Willem, Bitie and Aagje.  He was the second youngest of the six children.
