Teunis was born on February 26th, 1736 in Watergang.1   Teunis' father was Crelis Pietersen van Neck and his mother was Trijntje Teunis.  His paternal grandparents were Pieter van Neck and <Unknown>. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Pieter, Willem, Simon, Bitie and Aagje.  He was the second oldest of the six children.
