Betje was born in 1830.  Betje's father was Cornelis Kool and her mother was Aafje Aker.  Her paternal grandparents were Frederik Kool and Trijntje Nijman; her maternal grandparents were Pieter Aker and Lijsbeth Tjerks de Vries. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Pieter, Cornelis, Trijntje and Aafje.  She was the second oldest of the five children.  She died at the age of 36 on August 23rd, 1866 in Haarlemmermeer.1
