Jantje was born about 1801 in Veenhuizen.  Jantje's father was Teunis Groot (de) and her mother was Trijntje Pijper.  Her paternal grandparents were Pieter Groot and Jantje Teunis Laan; her maternal grandparents were Jan Klaasz Pijper and Maartje Jans de Vries. She had two brothers and seven sisters, named Jan, Pieter, Maartje, Kniertje, Neeltje, Pietertje, Geertje, Crelisje and Cornelia.  She was the oldest of the ten children.  She died on November 11th, 1864 in Heerhugowaard.
