Cornelia was born about 1821 in Nieuwe Niedorp.  Cornelia's father was Teunis Groot (de) and her mother was Trijntje Pijper.  Her paternal grandparents were Pieter Groot and Jantje Teunis Laan; her maternal grandparents were Jan Klaasz Pijper and Maartje Jans de Vries. She had two brothers and seven sisters, named Jan, Pieter, Jantje, Maartje, Kniertje, Neeltje, Pietertje, Geertje and Crelisje.  She was the youngest of the ten children.  She died on April 17th, 1877 in Heerhugowaard.
