Sarah was born on August 22nd, 1790 in Sutton, Nottinghamshire, , England.  Sarah's father was William Pepper and her mother was Mary Riste.  Her paternal grandparents were Edward Pepper and Anne Dexter; her maternal grandparents were William Riste and Elizabeth. She had four brothers and five sisters, named William, Edward, John, Richard, Ann, Elizabeth, Mary, Esther and Jane.  She was the fifth oldest of the ten children.  She died at the age of 72 in March 1863 in Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom.1
