Ann was born on February 2nd, 1824 in Scotland and her christening took place on February 8th, 1824 in Torryburn, Fifeshire, Scotland.1   Ann's father was Thomas VIPOND and her mother was Jean BORLAND. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, Archibald, John, Robert, George, Janet, Elizabeth, Jean and Margaret.  She was the fourth youngest of the ten children.
