James was born on November 1st, 1818 in Sidlesham, Sussex, England.1   James' father was Edmund PARHAM and his mother was Sarah COPIS.  His paternal grandparents were James PARHAM and Mary UNKNOWN. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, John, William, Edmund, Eleanor, Sarah, Emma and Mary.  He was the fourth oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 77 on August 25th, 1896 in Penfield, Adelaide, SA.2
