George Frederick Hendra JENNINGS 
George Frederick Hendra was born on July 12th, 1901 in Plymouth, Devon, England.1 George Frederick Hendra's father was Albion George JENNINGS and his mother was Martha HENDRA. His paternal grandfather is Albion JENNINGS and his paternal grandmother was Sarah Ann BEER; his maternal grandparents were John HENDRA and Mary Jane ROWE. He had a brother and six sisters, named Leonard, Ida Louise, Ivy Maud Mary, Gwendoline May, Candace Myrtle, 'Baby' and Irene Beryl. He was the fourth oldest of the eight children. George Frederick Hendra Jennings was born in Plymouth, Devon 12 Jul 1901, the son of Albion Jennings and Martha (nee Hendra). He was the first boy, Martha, having previously had three girls. He was employed at one time as a butchers assistant but then went in the munitions centre at Bull Point, Plymouth where he stayed throughout the war and up to the time of his retirement. He was in his forties when he married Lilian May Horswell at Plymouth Register Office 5 Feb 1944. May was a divorcee, having previously been married to a Frederick James Rabbetts. She was in her late thirties when she married George so it was a bit late to be thinking of a family so there were no children. They lived all their married life in a rented flat in Maple Grove, Mutley, Plymouth until in 1991 they became unable to cope on their own and went into a residential home. May was only there for a very short time before she died 11 Aug 1991. George survived her by just over eighteen months and died 13 Apr 1993. Both his and May's ashes were put on her parents grave at Efford Cemetery, Plymouth.
