Frank Hawes was born in December 1863 in Haverhill, Suffolk, , England.1   Frank Hawes' father is Thomas Gowers and his mother was Matilda Hawes.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Gowers and Rebecca Farrant; his maternal grandparents were George Hawes and Charlotte Mayer. He had eight brothers and nine sisters, named Thomas, Thomas, George, John Hawes, William Hawes, Frank, Tom, John, Emily Hawes, Eliza, Ellen, Eliza Hawes, Ellen, Martha Hawes, Ellen Hawes, Alice Hawes and Kate Hawes. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named John and Ellen.  He died at the age of 73 in 1936.
