Maria was born in July 1831 in Llorenç del Penedès.  Her godmother was Teresa Colet de la Bisbal.  Maria's father was Mariano Colet Aluja and her mother is Maria Sadurni Mestre.  Her paternal grandparents are Joan Colet Esplgues and Maria Aluja Guell. She had a brother and three sisters, named Josep, Madrona, Rosa and Antonia.  She was the oldest of the five children.  Maria is no longer alive.
