Mariano was born in 1791 in Vila-rodona. Mariano's father is Joan Colet Esplgues and his mother is Maria Aluja Guell.  His paternal grandparents were Lluis Colet and Gertrudis Esplugues Calvet. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Joan, Joan, Josep, Magina, Teresa and Maria.  He died at the age of 74 in 1865 in Llorenç del Penedès.
