John was born on March 20th, 1868 in Sydney, , New South Wales, Australia.  John's father was Francis Barloge and his mother was Elizabeth White.  His maternal grandparents were Rufus White and Caroline Allen. He had eight brothers and four sisters, named Woolner, George, William, James, David, James Henry, Albert Edward, Peter, Mary Ann, Sarah Ann, Louisa and Mary Elizabeth.  He was the third oldest of the thirteen children. He had eight half-brothers and six half-sisters, named Woolner, George, John, William, James, David, James Henry, Peter, Lavinia, Lavinia, Mary Ann, Sarah Ann, Louisa and Mary Elizabeth.  He died at the age of 42 on February 18th, 1911 in Sydney, , New South Wales, Australia.
