John was born in July 1763 in Hawkchurch, Dorset, England and his baptism took place on September 20th, 1769 in Thorncombe, Dorset, England.  John's father was John White and his mother was Elinor Phelps.  His paternal grandparents were John White and Mary Adams; his maternal grandparents were Joseph Phelps and Ann Jenkins. He had six sisters named Elizabeth, Charlotte, Aenella, Joan, Margaret and Mary.  He was the oldest of the seven children. He had five half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Thomas, Thomas, William, James, George, Tryphena, Hannah and Edith.  He died at the age of 54 on June 11th, 1818 in Hawkchurch, Dorset, England.  He was buried in 1818 in Hawkchurch, Dorset, England.
