Rufus was born on March 21st, 1790 in Hawkchurch, Dorset, England.  Rufus' father was John White and his mother was Ann Jess.  His paternal grandparents were John White and Elinor Phelps. He had four brothers and six sisters, named James, William, Thomas, John, Ruth, Mary, Elizabeth, Hannah, Hannah and Sarah.  He was the second oldest of the eleven children.  He died at the age of 80 on April 1st, 1870 in Brisbane Meadows, Nsw, Australia.  He was buried on April 3rd, 1870 in Wesleyan Portion, Cawdor, Nsw, Australia.
