Rachel was born in 1780 in Ilton, Somerset, England.  Rachel's father was Edward Pester and her mother was Rachel Derman. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Robert, John, James, Mary, Mary, Ann and Betty.  She was the second youngest of the eight children.
