Christian was born on July 9th, 1766 in Comrie, Perthshire, Scotland and her baptism took place there on July 9th, 1766.  Christian's father was Alexander McLaren and her mother was Margaret Cameron. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Alexander, Patrick, John, Catharine and Ann.  She was the third youngest of the six children.
