Henry was born on June 13th, 1833 in Kings Winford, Staffordshire, England and his baptism took place on October 13th, 1833 in Weston Super Mare, Somerset, England.  Henry's father was Rev Charles Girdlestone and his mother was Ann Elizabeth Morrell.  His paternal grandparents were Samuel Rainbow Girdlestone and Caroline Roberts Powell. He had seven brothers and a sister, named Charles Morrell, Edward Deacon, James, William Theophilus, Robert Baker, John Ward, Arthur Gilbert and Mary Elizabeth.  He was the fifth oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 71 in 1904 in Weston Super Mare, Somerset, England.
