Annie's father was Thomas Robert Cookson and her mother was Ann Hooper. Her paternal grandparents were Charles Norris Cookson and Mary Margaret Weir; her maternal grandparents were Abraham Hooper and Unknown. She had three brothers named Frederick Thomas, Charles Robert and Eliza. She had four half-sisters named Sophia Frances, Eliza Mary, Charlianna and Frances Mary Jane.-
