Mabel Priscilla was born in 1878. Mabel Priscilla's father was John Clark Bowden and her mother was Priscilla Matilda Down. Her paternal grandparents were William Henry Bowden and Caithrine Clarke. She had five brothers and a sister, named Horace Clark, Oswald Ernest, John Leslie, Colin Claude, Harold Bruce and Adeline Matilda. She was the second oldest of the seven children.-
