William Henry was born on August 22nd, 1809 in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia.  William Henry's father was Mathew Bowden and his mother was Maria Stanfield.  His paternal grandparents were John Bowden and Elisabeth Bee; his maternal grandparents were Richard Stanfield and Ann Crisby. He had two brothers and a sister, named John, Unknown and Ann Elizabeth.  He was the second youngest of the four children. He had a half-brother named Thomas Sargeant.  He died at the age of 73 on August 23rd, 1882 in Kew, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.  He was buried in Boroondarra Cemetery, Kew, Victoria, Australia.
