Francis I (S) was born in 1870 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Northumberland, England. Francis I (S)'s father was George Eggleston Blackett and his mother was Sarah Unknown. His paternal grandparents were George Blackett and Ann Robinson. He had five brothers and three sisters, named John George, William B, Ernest A, Charles, Frederick, Sarah Ann, Margaret E and Mary J. He was the fourth oldest of the nine children.-
